I failed to save a stray cat yesterday
For the first time in my life I failed in saving a abandoned cat from the streets and I felt frustrated and I've been thinking on it since yesterday so I thought of talking in my profile but why do I created a blog in the first place? So I decided to post it here.
Last night I was taking a walk with my boyfriend and when we were coming home we heard a cat meowing, it was on the other side of the street and there was a lot of cars passing by but I could heard it clearly because it was meowing so loud and I never heard a kitty meowing so desperate before, then I saw his face under the house's gate (a garage door) and I crossed the street and kept trying to catch him for about 20 minutes.
It was difficult to catch the cat because there were a lot of cars passing by the street (the sidewalk there is too narrow) and a lot of stupid loud motorcycles, and people passing by and the kitty was so scared that he would go right way hide in the house (I already hate these stupid motorcyclists that remove that thing from their vehicles just to make stupid loud noises when they pass by, but I hated them even more yesterday). I twice saw his head under the gate but he hid before I could catch him, he had a orange fur and his nose was dirty and he looked so tiny that he probably is 2 months old at max.
I was meowing to him (yes I meow to my cats lol) so I could gain his trust/trying to make him believe I was a friendly cat but I had no success in catching him. But I was determined to save him since he was probably starving and thirst (Here we are in Summer and yesterday the temperature was easily around 40C/104F at day, around 12pm ~ 4pm the hottest hours of the day so I was afraid he could die).
Besides of the cars, a lot of people were walking by us and they didn't seem to care for the poor kitty (once I was almost catching him when a stupid woman with a kid passed on the sidewalk and scared him, I don't care who were them but if they don't care about a cat's suffering they are stupid).
Then, the house's owner came home and we asked him if the kitty was his and he said that wasn't but he let us inside to try to catch him. I knew the kitty didn't have a owner anyway because no way anyone would let it outside screaming alone at night. But when we went inside he hid under a car and when we tried to catch him he hid, again, in a small storage room filled with junk. We even bought him wet cat food and I even went inside the room and moved the things trying to catching him but I had no success. The room was dark and I could be bitten by a recluse spider lol but I didn't think this at that time, I was just determined to taking him home.
Since it was getting late and we couldn't get him, we let our cellphone number with the homeowner so if the cat went out he would catch him and put in a box and call us. But I doubt he will, since he complained that the cat was meowing all night last night (the night before) and when my mom (we met my mom while we were trying to catch the cat, my mom also loves cats) asked him if he didn't feed or giving the kitty water the guy just said the the neighbor gave him food or something, and for me he just wanted to get the cat outside his house.
A bunch of hamsters to show how I felt before, during and after the event.
