About

This a personal page where I can place all my art related stuff so I can reference easily later, it contains my influence map, a complete list of all of my favourite artists, and my art resources: my favourite/plan to read books, favourite artists on youtube, a bunch of sites for figure drawing and other references and my recent interest which is pixel art.

Though it isn't much I've included all links which I mainly use. I'll try to check for dead links and update it if I have new resources, so I hope it'll be useful for more aspiring artists other than me °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

Also if you have some art resources that you want to share contact me so I can check if I ended up using it I'll add to the page (just cause I'm always looking for new resources, specially videos of figure drawing sessions).

Learn to draw

All drawing courses that I could find that picked my interest and Youtube artists that also teach drawing that I follow.

Drawing courses:
  • Ctrl Paint: for digital painting (free);
  • Love Life Drawing: figure drawing (free);
  • Marc Brunet: a digital art school for digital artists created by the artist of the same name, has an one time payment for the course ($$$$) with an option for upgrade for mentoring ($$$$$) or you can buy individual courses ($), has courses on digital painting, character design, sculpting anatomy, and more;
  • New Masters Academy: virtual art academy, self-paced with a subscription service ($$);
  • Proko: Stan Prokopenko's drawing course, self-paced with an one payment method, and you have access for the course forever (since you can also download the videos), it has guest instructors ($$);
  • RadioRunner's curriculum for the Solo Artist (archived): literally what the title says, most of the stuff are free (I won't recommend using the Croquis Cafe site because they used to be free just to create their brand then changed to a paid only service);
  • Schoolism: a digital art school, it offers a bunch of courses in concept art, drawing, sculpting, animation and more (self paced), it offers a yearly subscription ($$), pay per course ($$) and live classes ($$$$);
  • Vilppu Academy: Glenn Vilppu's virtual art academy, it has weekly classes term based classes and a subscription service with access to video lectures and demos ($$$$$ for the courses | $ for the subscription);
  • Watercolors: claims to be the "the best and most comprehensive resource for watercolor painters on the Internet", the site is not updated anymore but it has tons of content;
  • Watts Atelier: the Atelier of arts that Proko studied, offers online courses in a subscription method and streaming term based classes in an one payment method (it has a physical atelier in the US) ($$~$$$).

*Note: I didn't use any of these courses yet, so the info is not from my personal experience lol and the price range is my own opinion.

Youtube channels:
  • Alphonso Dunn: solid content especially about figure drawing and fundamentals, but recently only posts short videos so check his older videos that have more content;
  • Bradwynn Jones: has some content about figure drawing and drawing of faces, but it isn't much active;
  • Drawing Tutorials Online: has a series where he shows the sketchbooks of his students, also has some tutorials but I mainly recommend for the sketchbook series;
  • Glenn Vilppu: Vilppu's channel, it doesn't have much stuff but it's cool just to look at him drawing;
  • Marc Brunet: channel of the course above, has mainly short art tips videos;
  • Modern Day James: has some drawing tutorials, he also has a discord channel that is a great art community (from what I see lurking some art reddits, I didn't join the channel);
  • New Master Academy: channel of the above course, has timed figure drawing sessions, tips and tutorials;
  • Proko: Proko's channel, as far as I know he has the same (free) videos as the one on his drawing course, it also has some demos/samples of his paid courses and more art related content;
  • Sinix Design: mostly tutorials about digital drawing;
  • Watts Atelier of the Arts: channel of the course above, has some tutorials and art tips.

References for figure drawing (clothed and unclothed), anime, hair, animals, fashion and some other cool links that I could find.

Reference stock photos and poses:
  • Adorka stock: stock reference of poses from clothed models for figure drawing, free;
  • Artist references: photo references for figure drawing with nude models, environment textures and 3D textures;
  • Artproof flickr's collection: photo references for figure drawing, animals, landscapes and more;
  • Character designs: photo references for drawing including nude and clothed models;
  • Jookpub stock: reference photos of clothed models;
  • Line of action: photo references of nude and clothed models, animals, face, hands and feet. You can also set a timer for a drawing session;
  • Pexels: royalty free stock photos and videos;
  • Pixabay: royalty free stock photos and videos (it also has more royalty free stuff);
  • Posemaniacs: 3D "skinless" models of different poses.
  • Quickposes: photo references of nude and clothed models, animals, face, hands and feet. You can also set a timer for a drawing session;
  • Reference sketch daily: photo references of models, animals and others for timed and untimed drawing sessions;
  • Sinned Angel stock: reference photos of clothed model;
  • Unsplash: reference photos and illustrations without AI mixed in;
  • Wikimedia Commons: part of the wikipedia, it has free media stock (besides images it has video, soung and 3D models too).
Anime:
  • Anime characters database: database of anime and anime characters with filter options to search a character;
  • Anime Gallery: site with a gallery of anime and game illustrations (unfortunately not updated since 2009);
  • Creative Uncut: site featuring tons of video game concept art (it's online since 2003);
  • Sakugabooru: image booru of sakuga (anime frame clips);
  • Settei Dreams: archive of animation production materials.
People and fashion:
  • Advanced Style: cool fashion blog about senior's fashion, great inspiration for character design;
  • Bloshka: fascinating blog about historical fashion;
  • Catwalk yourself: online fashion magazine, has interesting posts about historical fashion;
  • Claire Hummel's Historical Fashion Reference & Resources: a google docs, literally the most useful and compreensive resource for historical fashion I known;
  • Comparing Heights: a tool where you compare heights for figure drawing, using silhouette's drawings, you chan choose up to 6 figures;
  • Frock Flicks: a blog with reviews about fashion in movies and TV shows set in the pre 60s, useful to check if certain movie is historical accurate and to search for new historical movies to use as reference;
  • From the Bygone: Blog about retro and historical fashion, references about real fashion and fashion in movies;
  • Height Weight Chart: what the title says, it has pictures ofd ifferent people with different weight and height;
  • Style Arena: fashion news site about Tokyo street fashion, it has pictures of fashionable people since 2002, great for character design inspiration;
  • Tokyo Snap Fashion: fashion news site about Tokyo street fashion, same as Style Arena.
Animals:
  • Animalia: a database of animals, it also has some reference photos but it's best for search for different animals;
  • Animal Photo Art Reference: 3D models of animals skulls;
  • iNaturalist: has tons of photos of wild animals observation (WARNING: it had picture of dead animals, and dead cats unfortunately, be sure to search for "alive" animal).
Art and history:
  • Artcyclopedia: online database of fine arts;
  • Artvee: database of public domain high res art, it includes a search function;
  • Europeana: from the site's description "Search, save and share art, books, films and music from thousands of cultural institutions", I haven't used it yet but it seems free;
  • Film Grab: collection of reference images (screenshots) of movies;
  • NYPL Digital Collections: The New York Public Library's digitized items;
  • Rawpixel's public domain collection: public domain artwork scanned and enchanced digitally.
  • World History Encyclopedia: a non-profit organization publishing the world's most read history encyclopedia, I also haven't used it yet.
